A commercially available B 4 C powder with an average particle size of µm (Jingangzuan Boron Carbide Co., Ltd., China) was chosen as starting material to prepare an ultrafine B 4 C powder. The powder was mixed in a Planetary Ball Milling Machine (QMQX4, Nanjing Nan Da Instrument Plant, China) with rotation speed of 400 rpm for 20 h.
